Hilary Sheinbaum is a journalist, the founder of GoingDry.co and the author of The Dry Challenge: How to Lose the Booze for Dry January, Sober October, and Any Other Alcohol-Free Month (HarperCollins, 2020), a judgment-free guide to giving up alcohol for a month-long period. She is the co-author of A Journal For Bad Days (Simon & Schuster, 2023). Her next book: Going Dry: A Workbook: A Practical Guide to Drinking Less and Living More (Quarto) will publish on Sept. 3, 2024.

Hilary has been sober-curious, and a dry month participant, since January 2017. She is an advocate for dry months and exploring fun, new and different ways to live a happy, adventurous, big life.

In 2023, she was featured extensively in news articles and on broadcast segments including: MarketWatch’s piece on nonalcoholic options on St. Patrick's Day, The New York Times which calls "Ms. Sheinbaum, the Dry January M.V.P.,” The Wall Street Journal in a front page story, Good Morning America in a dry dating segment with Michael Strahan, on NY1 mixing a N.A. cocktail, and discussing Dry January tips on CBS NY, CBS Miami, The Tamron Hall Show, and NBC Streaming. Hilary also regularly appears on Good Morning America’s Instagram (3.5 million+ followers) and website, making her own N.A. concoctions. Her first TEDx Talk, covering the topic of dry dating, went live in October 2023.

As a journalist, Hilary haas written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Well+Good, GQ, and several other top tier outlets. She is a University of Florida graduate (Go Gators!) despite having attended Florida State University (Go Noles!) for two years. Yes, they are rival schools. Yes, she roots for both teams. Yes, it's always awkward during football season.

Growing up in South Florida, Hilary realized her passion for writing, community service, pop culture and ice cream. These days, she lives in New York City and strives to have a healthier relationship with her cell phone. In the future, Hilary hopes to own a teacup Maltese named Godzilla.
